His mother was an Angora cat breed and father was a Russian Blue cat breed. German Rex is still very few used for crossing and production of new types of cats. In the late 1990’s it was almost extinct. In the year 2000, one breeder managed to develop the last copy of the cat. Since it is mostly a small cat, it is necessary to be taken a lot of care of her health.

The head of German Rex cat’s is of a rounded shape, broad between the ears, slightly concave nose, strong chin, and very short mustache. Their ears are of medium size, wide at the base, slightly rounded at the top, covered with fur on the outside, and in the inside with less hair. The eyes are of medium size, well open and apart, placed to the outside of the nose and great in accordance with the color palette.

Their body is solid and muscular, medium -sized, but not too massive. The chest is strong and rounded. The legs are of medium length and soft. Paws are well developed and rounded. The tail is of medium length, strong at root, tapering to a rounded top and covered with hair.
The fur is short, soft and silky. The density of fur varies from thin to thick and soft undercoat, and is the characteristic of this species. All colors are accepted, as well as all pattern combinations in white.

The German Rex cats get along very well with other house from the same household, as well as with dogs and other pets. They love the company of children and like to play with them, and they bond very fast with their owner, so we can easily say that their temperament is very similar to the temperament of Cornish Rex cats.
