Ukrainian Levkoy cats are a man made breed, and they were just recently developed, in 2001. They are a creation of Elena Biriukova from Ukraine. They are a result of crossing Donskoy cats with Scottish Fold cats; therefore these manmade cats have a very unique and distinctive appearance.

The Ukrainian Levkoy cats were recognized in 2005 in the Ukraine by ICFA RUI which stands for Rolandus Union International. After that, they were also recognized in Russia in 2010 by ICFA WCA. This cat breed is very active on competitions and today there are 15 of them to who have been given the title – The Best in Show. Disqualifications can happen due to crossed eyes, too short head, round eyes, weak chin, etc.

These cats have little to no hair and inward folding ears. They are of medium size with long body. They can be either muscular o slender. The Ukrainian Levkoy cats have soft and elastic skin and this is what leads towards their wrinkled appearance. This cat breed is recognized only by Russian and Ukrainian clubs, and not even one other breeder organization recognizes them.

These cats have sort of a dog face appearance, large almond shaped eyes and large folded ears.  The length of their muzzle is approx 1/3 the length of their head. They also have curly whiskers, medium length neck and muscular body. They also have long legs with mobile toes. Ears are set wide apart, and are roundly folded forward and down.

These cats are very playful and intelligent. They are friendly and very sociable. They enjoy company of people as well as of other pets. As for their hygiene and grooming, they don’t need any brushing, but they need special skin care, especially during the summer and winter, since they don’t have fur, and they need to be protected from the sun or from extremely cold winters.
