Minskin cats are old only a decade, so this is a rather new cat breed. These cats started developing only in 1998 in Boston, US by breeder Paul McSorley. He wanted to get a cat with a specific look so he started mating Sphynx cats with Munchkin cats. The result was a Minskin cat breed which was produced by the year 2000. Until 2005 more 50 Minskin cats were in existence together with variants that had long legs and full coats.

Minskin cats are well known for their miniature size and their short legs. They have a very soft coated skin, and soft fur points on their tail, legs, ears and face. This cat breed can be found in a variety of colors and patterns (this includes colors with white, tabby patterns, tortoiseshell, solids etc). The most popular are colorpoint Minskin cats.

The body of Minskin cats is semi cobby, small and stocky. These cats have a rounded head, large eyes and a very sweet expression. Even when adults, these cats have a kitten-like appearance. This is a generally healthy cat breed. Their coat is easily groomed. They have a sparse coat and hairless belly. Regular bathing is required with mild shampoo and lukewarm water to keep their skin healthy and supple.

Minskin cats are small sized cats. They weight approx pounds, and this means that they are around 8 pounds lighter than other average cat breeds.

Minskin cats are a very rare breed and difficult to find. They are very playful and outgoing. They love the company of people and love to be petted. They love to sleep in the lap of their owner. Minskin cats are active and they enjoy climbing. These cats get along very well even with dogs, with other cats and with small children. One characteristic that distinguishes Minskin cats from other cat breeds is that they are warm to the touch, which makes it a pleasure to cuddle with them, especially during cold winter nights.
